Ritual Union 2024

A Festival that has become a staple in the Bristol music scene

The third edition of Ritual Union in Bristol happened last Saturday where the central Bristol venues of SWX, Strange Brew, The Island, and Rough Trade brought up several bands from the Underground and we discovered several gems in the festival. Bristol as a city is the best city to support this concept of a multivenue festival because of its small size and wide variety of venues that are remarkably close to each other. So, it was
convenient to watch the artists and make a good list of who to watch. Through the festival we interviewed plenty of artists who performed that day and everyone was very warm and chatty with us and gave us a great insight into their music.

Martin Newel from Cleaners from Venus was a great start to the festival, with his egocentric personality and witty humor providing a great one-man show at Strange Brew. From what I saw the highlight of the festival would be Mary in the Junkyard as they bring a lot of elements from different indie subgenres, and they truly have a very eclectic way of song build-up and songwriting it is indeed that will be discussed in the future and has a lot to give. I found it hard to comprehend and reflect on the sets of the artists that are performing as their sets most of the time are short that is good sometimes because it is an effective way to discover new artists and hand have a brief introduction to them it feels like an information overload and by the end of the day your brain has already filled his “ SD Card “Overall the energy and the great live sets where something that the festival always provides of and it was great to see the city once again lively . The best thing to enjoy a good musical event is not to overthink your movements and over plan it and go with the flow and have fun. A warm thank you for Crosstown Concerts and for the artists who were very welcoming and communicative to us. See you next year!
